The FBI has arrested a Florida man on kidnapping charges in connection with his estranged wife's disappearance in Spain.
Agents believe David Knezevich, 36, resembles the man wearing a motorcycle helmet who spray painted the security camera lens outside Ana Marie Knezevich Henao's Madrid apartment on Feb. 2, the Associated Press reported.
The man allegedly left the apartment with a suitcase about an hour later.
Ana, 40, has not been seen since that day.
Spanish police reportedly have security video of him purchasing spray paint and duct tape hours earlier.
The FBI arrested Knezevich at Miami International Airport on Saturday. He is being held pending a bail hearing.
His lawyer claims he was in Serbia that day but agents said Knezevich rented a car in Belgrade a few days earlier.
A Spanish driver later reported his license plates were stolen. On the night Ana Knezevich disappeared, a license plate reader on her Madrid street recorded the stolen plate number, according to the Associated Press.
The rental agency said Knezevich returned the car five weeks later and the windows had been tinted. The car reportedly had been driven almost 4,800 miles.
The couple was in the middle of a contested divorce after a 13 year marriage.
Ana's brother, Juan Henao, called it "nasty," according to the Associated Press. He told police David was angry that they would be splitting a substantial amount of money.
The couple also co-owns a South Florida computer support business.
