Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene initiated a vote Wednesday to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson after spending months teasing the motion but it was quickly rejected by Democrats and Republicans
One of Donald Trump's biggest supporters in Congress, Greene stood on the House floor and read a long list of "transgressions" she said Johnson had committed as speaker, the Associated Press reported.
Other House members booed in protest.
Republican Majority Leader Steve Scalise quickly countered her move by calling first for a vote to table it.
The dramatic motion was quickly tabled in a 359-43 vote, with only 10 Republicans siding with Greene.
There was speculation Democrats would vote to save Johnson, after he helped avert a government shutdown and passed billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.
