Brooklyn (30-29) managed to turn around their season and, above .500 for the first time this season, sit No. 6 in the Eastern Conference. They head into Friday's contest looking for their fifth straight win, which could move them into the fifth seed.

"It's not always how you start, it's going to be how you finish," Nets forward Paul Pierce said, via ESPN. "And I think with the way we've been playing as of late, since the All-Star break, since the turn of the new year, this is the Nets team that I envisioned from the beginning of the season."

Friday also marks the second time Pierce and teammate Kevin Garnett will return to TD Garden in visitors' uniforms. Although Pierce doesn't expect Friday to be as emotional as his first time returning, he did admit playing in Boston would always be significant to him.

"As long as I'm in the league, it's going to be tough, because I know I'm going to have to come back to the Boston Garden," Pierce said. "You put so much energy in one spot, and there's always going to be memories."

Boston, meanwhile, has been as fortunate in turning their season around. The Celtics (20-41) have lost eight of their last 10 games, including two straight. While guard Rajon Rondo continues to improve after missing almost a year of basketball, rookie center Kelly Olynyk has begun to show potential.

The 7-footer is averaging 11.2 points and 7.3 rebounds over his last nine games, according to ESPN.

"I think he's on the right progression. He's on the right path," Celtics first-year coach Brad Steven said. "I think he's rebounding a little bit better. He's shooting the 3 a little bit more freely now than he was at the start of our season."
