
The U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday carried out a medical evacuation of a man from a research vessel in the Gulf of Mexico.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received the medevac request from the Rem Andes, a research/survey vessel sailing under the flag of The Bahamas in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Rem Andes was located about 165 miles south of Port Fourchon, La., when a 62-year-old man on board began experiencing "potential neurological symptoms," the Coast Guard said in a statement.

The patient was transported the University Medical Center in New Orleans, and was "last reported to be in stable condition," the Coast Guard said.
