The Aurora Borealis put on a rare spectacular display Friday night, and social media was threre for it with posted eye-popping photos and videos from London to Seattle, Aberdeen to Cleveland.
The light show was visible in the U.S. as far south as Florida, Texas and southern Californis after an extreme geomagnetic storm — the most powerful in at least 20 years — peppered the planet.
Those who missed the show can try again Saturday night.

I still can't believe what we all got to witness last night. The Northern Lights. Over #Pittsburgh. I've sat outside for hours countless times over the years, even if there was the slightest chance we could see them and have always come up empty. Not last night. Absolutely unreal pic.twitter.com/eIFsw8PG2a

The Northern Lights are incredible tonight! Here's a quick timelapse of a sub-storm occurring right after sunset, just north of St. Paul, Minnesota. It's amazing that you can see them even in the city! #aurora #NorthernLights pic.twitter.com/rzfRzBTUip
