Donald Trump told a huge New Jersey campaign rally Saturday evening in Wildwood that he was bigger than rock star Bruce Springsteen, that his old pal former Jersey GOP governor Chris Christie is a "fat pig," that President Joe Biden is surrounded by "fascists," and that former tennis star "Jimmy Connors was the worst president."
He promised to "deport" all pro-Palestinian protesters, even though most of them are likely American citizens.
Trump also compared immigrants to fictional cannibal killer Hannibal Lecter, but it wasn't completely clear because he also called Lecter a "late, great ... wonderful man" who "liked to have a friend for dinner" before he sequed into immigration.
"Hannibal Lecter, congratulations — the late, great Hannibal Lecter. We have people that are being released into our country that we don't want in our country," Trump said.
He vowed at the rally — which a Wildwood spokesperson estimated at 80,000 people — to stop the migrant "invasion" into the country, and the "plunder, rape, slaughter and destruction of the American suburbs, cities and towns." As he has in past campaigns Trump recited the lyrics of the 1963 song "The Snake" when a tender-hearted woman helps a frozen snake only to be bitten and killed by the reptile because that's the creature's nature.
Trump also targeted officials behind the hush-money trial against him in Manhattan, calling the charges "bull----," a word that the crowd then chanted. He called prosecutor Alvin Bragg "Fat Alvin," said Judge Juan Merchan was "extremely conflicted," and baselessly claimed again that Biden is responsible for the charges against him.
He praised the Supreme Court justice who overturned Roe v. Wade, ending a woman's constitutional right to abortion, and said if he's president he would "not give a penny" to any schools with a vaccine mandate. Almost all schools in the nation currently require several vaccines for diseases such a measles, meningitis, chicken pox and whooping cough.
Trump told the crowd in rock-solid Cape May County in a blue state: "I love you."
Besides his gaffe about Jimmy Connors being the worst president when he likely meant Jimmy Carter, he also talked about China President Xi in the landlocked capital of Beijing with "ships circling, they have planes, but they never were doing anything." He was likely referring to Taiwan, not Beijing.
