Iconic "Aliens" heroine Sigourney Weaver could soon be part of another science fiction franchise as she is reportedly in talks to join the cast of the latest "Star Wars" flick.
Weaver, 74, made sci-fi history when she was cast as Ellen Ripley in the "Aliens" franchise, even though the character was originally written for a man. She also appeared in other popular franchises including "Ghostbusters" and "Avatar."
Now Lucasfilm is reportedly considering her for a role in the forthcoming "Star Wars" franchise offering "The Mandalorian & Grogu." The movie will follow Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin, first introduced in the 2019 Disney+ series "The Mandalorian."
Though there have been several popular "Star Wars" television shows in recent years, the last film in the franchise was 2019's "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." Jon Favreau, who created "The Mandalorian" television show, will direct the film, while Lucasfilm execs Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni will produce.
News of Weaver's involvement in the project was first reported in film journalist Jeff Sneider's InSneider newsletter. Weaver has not yet made any official comments about the reports.
