Several pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted Secretary of State Antony Blinken as he testified in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday.
Blinken had just started speaking when a man holding a Palestinian flag got up and yelled, "Hind Rajab was six years old when Israelis killed her. Hind Rajab was six years old. Blinken, you will be remembered as the butcher of Gaza."
Security guards quickly grabbed the protester and moved him out of the room.
On his way out he yelled, "You will be remembered for murdering innocent Palestinians."
Others continued yelling and Committee Chairman Ben Cardin said, "The person - will the officer please remove the person who's making these comments?"
Two other women, including one who appeared to have red paint or dye on her hands, were removed from the hearing.
"Stop the genocide. Stop the genocide," a woman yelled as she was removed.
Some of the same group had stood with their hands over their head as Blinken entered the room before the hearing got underway.
Blinken has blamed social media in part for widespread pro-Palestinian protests against Israel's military actions in Gaza, saying it has a "very, very, very challenging effect on the narrative."
He visited the Middle East earlier this month in an attempt to spur a deal on a ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages but has been unsuccessful.
