A father in Kentucky was charged with killing his two-year-old son in February after giving him oxycodone, WCPO-TV reported.

Douglas Allen, 26, was charged on Friday in the Feb. 19 death of his son, Bradley James Allen. According to officers, he knowingly gave the toddler the powerful drug.

Allen's girlfriend and mother of the boy, Amanda Foster, called 911 after discovering her son unresponsive in his crib.

After a toxicology report was completed, authorities discovered that high levels of oxycodone were found in his system. Police believe Allen gave his son the drug on Feb. 18, leading to his death.

He is currently being held in Carroll County Detention Center. According to a report in the AP, jail records show he does not have an attorney yet.

According to court records, an investigation into the couple began in August after Samuels' mother told authorities she saw a video on her daughters phone of Wilson's son putting a pipe in his mouth.
