Sirens were sounding in Tel Aviv Sunday after Hamas launched a rocket atttack at the nation's largest city.
Israeli authorities reported that at least eight rockets were launched from the Rafah area in southern Gaza, where Israel is conducting its own military attack.
Israeli military officals said that a number of the rockets were intercepted, but at least one large bomb crater was shown on Israeli media near the central town of Kfar Saba.
No injuries were immediately reported.
Israel's ambulance service, Magen David Adom, said many people were being treated for acute anxiety, the BBC reported.
Rocket warning sirens also sounded in other cities and towns, including Herzliya and Petah Tikva.
The military wing of Hamas, the al-Qassam Brigades, earlier boasted of launching a "big" missile attack on Tel Aviv on its Telegram channel.
Tel Aviv was the site Saturday of protests by thousands demanding Israel work to release hostages taken by Hamas during its October attack.
They also demanded the resignation of Israeli pime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who they accuse of prolonging the Gaza war for his own political gain.
