Four girls, between the ages of nine and 17, were stabbed without any apparent warning or provocation in Masssachusetts AMC theater

Massachusetts police arrested a suspect Saturday evening in the stabbing of four girls in a Boston movie theater and two adults in a separate attack.

The girls, between the ages of nine and 17, were stabbed without any apparent warning or provocation in an AMC theater in the evening. All survived. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatement, and the movie theater was locked down, CNN reported.

The suspect entered the theater without paying. "Inside ... he encountered four young females. Without saying anything and without any warning, he suddenly attacked and stabbed" them, the Braintree Police Department wrote in a statement.

The suspect fled in a vehicle as the Braintree Fire and Police Departments and the Brewster paramedics responded to the scene.

Less than an hour later, a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were stabbed in a local McDonalds. They were both treated at a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

State troopers tracked down the suspect's vehicle in the town Sandwich thanks to a description, and gave chase when the driver failed to pull over. Troopers gave chase when the driver refused to pull over.

"The suspect crashed the vehicle and was taken into custody shortly thereafter by Sandwich and State Police. He is currently being treated at an area hospital," Massachusetts State Police reported.

Investigations into both incidents remain ongoing, but the state police believe that both incidents are connected.

The suspect was not identified.
