Aging boxing legend Mike Tyson suffered a medical emergency while flying from Miami to Los Angeles, where he was treated by paramedics after the plane landed, according to a report Monday.
The alarming incident unfolded Sunday ahead of a scheduled July 20 bout that will pit Tyson, 57, against social media personality-turned-boxer Jake Paul, 27.
A passenger on the flight told In Touch Weekly magazine that a recorded message asking if any medical personnel were on board was played about 30 minutes before the plane was scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport.
"Then our screens said medical assistance needed, and repeated the same thing," the unidentified passenger said.
The flight crew asked everyone to remain in their seats once the plane landed so paramedics could board and tend to someone who a flight attendant described as a "really important passenger," the source told In Touch.
"I just mouthed the words 'Mike Tyson' and she nodded her head yes," the passenger said of the flight attendant.
Tyson had been spotted at the departure gate in Miami and was traveling in the first class section, the source said.
Passengers were reportedly kept in their seats for about 25 minutes while Tyson was treated.
A Tyson spokesperson told In Touch that the boxer was "doing great."
"He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing," the spokesperson said. "He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him."
