Lawyers at Donald Trump's New York hush money trial are delivering their closing arguments on Tuesday ahead of jury deliberations.

The closing arguments could take most of the day as the prosecution and defense try to make a final argument about the merits of the month-long case.

After they summarize their cases, Judge Juan M. Merchan will give instructions to the jury on what they need to decide.

Trump faces 34 felony charges related to his handling of hush money payments to former porn star Stormy Daniels. She claimed she had a sexual encounter with Trump. He denies having an affair.

Prosecutors claim the Trump Organization reimbursed Cohen for a $130,000 payment made to  Daniels.

They claim the payments were fraudulently logged as legal expenses.

Along with Daniels testifying about her alleged sexual encounter, the jury heard from former Trump personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen.

Cohen was the prosecution's star witness and laid out how the payment was made. The defense attacked Cohen's credibility and got him to admit on the stand that he had stolen from the Trump Organization.

Earlier in the trial, tabloid publisher David Pecker testified about checkbook journalism and his part in squashing for unflattering stories about Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Some people started camping out as early as Friday for their chance at one of the few available seats inside the courtroom for the historic trial.
