A defense lawyer claimed that Donald Trump was not worried about the alleged affair with Stormy Daniels costing him the 2016 presidential election.
Todd Blanche made the statement during closing arguments at Trump's New York hush money trial.
He told the jury that the payout to Daniels started out as "an extortion," according to CNN.
Blanche said Daniels and her publicist "seized an opportunity" after the "Access Hollywood" tape came out in October 2016 that Trump was heard saying he could grab women by the p----y."
He said the Daniels claims were more of a worry for how they impact Trump's family and not the campaign.
Blanche told the jury that Trump never signed the Stormy Daniels agreement and that what he knew about it came only came from Cohen.
He said the jurors just should quickly come back and find Trump not guilty.
The former president faces 34 felony charges in connection with the accounting of the payments to Daniels.
The defense wrapped up its closing arguments early on Tuesday afternoon.
The prosecution was set to deliver theirs the rest of the afternoon.
Judge Juan M. Merchan will then give instructions to the jury on what they need to decide and deliberations are expected to begin on Wednesday.
