A Michigan judge was dumbfounded when a man with a suspended driver's license joined a court Zoom hearing while behind the wheel of a car.
It happened earlier this month in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Corey Harris entered Judge Cedric Simpson's online court hearing while he was driving.
"Mr Harris are you driving?" Simpson asked.
"Actually, I'm pulling into my doctor's office," Harris replied. "Just give me one second. I'm parking right now."
A public defender representing Harris quickly asked the judge for an adjournment.
"OK, so maybe I don't understand something. This is a driving while license suspended [case], and he was just driving, and he didn't have a license," Simpson said.
The public defender then confirmed he was driving without a license.
"I don't even know why he would do that," a stunned Simpson said.
The judge revoked Harris's bond. He was ordered to turn himself in to the Washington County jail by 6 p.m. that day.
He was warned that if he didn't show up on time a warrant would be issued for his arrest with no bond.
This is actually the second time this has happened in Michigan in recent years.
In 2021, another man with a suspended license was held in contempt after a video of him joining a Zoom hearing from his car, Business Insider reported.
