A gravely ill Missouri death row inmate is not admitting any guilt days away from his scheduled execution.
David Hosier is set to die for the 2009 murders of Angela and Rodney Gilpin. Hosier, 64, had a romantic relationship with Angela before she went back to her husband, Rodney.
Prosecutors couldn't put him at the crime scene but claimed they had a mountain of evidence including a protective order that Angela had filed against him alleging he was stalking him.
Hosier recently gave a phone interview to News Nation. When asked if he maintains his innocence, Hosier said, "Not only do I maintain it, I am innocent."
He continued, "I'm no angel but there are enough women out there are enough men that are looking for friends with benefits. You don't get upset just because one decides to go back to her husband or one decides to break it off with you."
"I've been married and divorced three times. All three of my ex-wives are still alive," Hosier said.
In another interview with the Kansas City Star, Hosier said he turned down a plea bargain that would have spared him the death penalty but said "You cannot show remorse for something you did not do."
He told the paper he has a spiritual advisor.
"We talk, just trying to get prepared for the state wanting to murder you," Hosier said.
Hosier is scheduled for execution by lethal injection on June 11. He was recently released from the hospital after suffering apparent heart failure. He walks with a cane.
