A search is on for Malawi's vice president after a plane he was in was reported missing on Monday.
The office of the president announced that Saulos Chilima was on a military aircraft and nine others failed to make its scheduled landing at Mzuzu International Airport at 10:02 a.m.
"All efforts by aviation authorities to make contact with the aircraft since it went off the radar have failed thus far," the Southeastern African country's government said in a statement.
President Lazarus Chakwera said he had canceled a scheduled trip to the Bahamas and ordered an "immediate search and rescue operation to locate the whereabouts of the aircraft.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
