Warner Bros. Pictures on Monday confirmed a sequel to 1998's "Practical Magic" is in the works.
"It's official! Practical Magic 2 is in development and coming soon," Warner Bros. posted Monday on X, formerly Twitter.
According to People, "deals are in process" for the original film's stars, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, to return for the sequel.
Rumors of a possible sequel have been swirling since midnight on June 9, when it was announced that "Practical Magic" is now available to stream on Max.
"Practical Magic," based on the 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman, stars Bullock, 59, as Sally Owens and Kidman, 56, as Gillian Owens, sisters who are part of a cursed family of witches. The curse ensures that if they ever find true love, the object of their love will be killed. When Sally accidentally kills Gillian's abusive ex-boyfriend, they try to resurrect him to cover up the murder. But his evil spirit possesses Gillian, and Sally must utilize her magic to free her sister.
The movie features the famous "midnight margaritas" scene, in which the sisters drink tequila and dance to the song "Coconut" by Harry Nilsson - likely referenced by the midnight announcement for the film's move to Max.
HBO tried to launch a "Practical Magic" spinoff series back in 2019 titled "Rules of Magic," based on Hoffman's prequel novel, but it never materialized.
For the new project, Kidman and Bullock are expected to produce, according to People, while Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind") is expected to write the screenplay.
