Gabby Petito told fiancé-turned-killer Brian Laundrie his pain was "killing" her in an apologetic letter penned shortly before she disappeared and was subsequently murdered.
Gabby, 22, vanished during a cross-country trip with Laundrie, 23, in the summer of 2021. Laundrie strangled her to death, according to investigators. Her body was found Sept. 19, 2021, in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming three to four weeks after it's believed she was killed.
In October, Brian Laundrie's remains were discovered in a Florida reserve. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said. Investigators found with him a backpack that contained a notebook, in which he admitted responsibility for Gabby's murder.
Before their deaths, the couple were suspected to be in a tumultuous relationship, and handwritten letters discovered during the investigation and recently made public by the FBI corroborate the allegations.
"Yes, I can be a child, sometimes. I know," the undated letter read, in part, "but it's cause you give me this energy and I just love you too much."
"Like, so much, it hurts. So you in pain is killing me," wrote Gabby.
In the letter, Gabby also begged for Brian to "stop crying and stop calling me names because we're a team and I'm here with you."
She admitted she was "frustrated there's not more" she can do.
Gabby and Laundrie were documenting their travels on social media.
She was reported missing by her mother in September of that year after not hearing from her daughter for weeks.
