Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay says he's "lucky to be here" after suffering a serious cycling accident in Connecticut.
The 57-year-old host of "Kitchen Nightmares" and restaurant owner posted pictures online showing his ripped clothes, busted helmet, and a giant prominent purple bruise covering a large part of his torso following the distressing incident last week.
Visibily shook, Ramsay urged followers in an Instagram video to always wear helmets, no matter how short their bike journey is.
"I don't care how short the journey is. I don't care. These helmets cost money, but they're crucial. Even with a kid's short journey, they've got to wear a helmet now," stressed the famous chef.
"Those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, and nurses in the hospitals looked after me this week. They were amazing, but honestly, you've got to wear helmets," he stressed.
"I'm lucky to be standing here. I'm in pain. It's been a brutal week. And I'm sort of getting through it," Ramsay said.
Ramsay, who was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut, and that his cycling helmet "saved" his life.
