Texas High School Students Arrested In Death Of Classmate

Two high school students in Texas were arrested in connection to the death of their classmate on Saturday, CBS News reported.

According to authorities, officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in a wooded area in a mall when they spotted to males running away from the car. Shortly after, the males returned and told police they were burying a body.

The victim was identified as 17-year-old Ivan Mejia, who attended Wylie East High School with the suspects. Police believe he was killed near the school.

The names of the suspects have not been released and a motive for the murder is unknown.

The Wylie Independent School District issued a statement on Sunday following the news.

"The entire Wylie ISD community is shocked and saddened by this senseless act. We are cooperating with the police as they investigate, and we hope they will be able to provide us with some understanding of how this tragedy unfolded," the statement read.

A second student in the Wylie schools was reported missing on Thursday while attending a music festival.

Stephen Kenneth Colbert, a freshman at Wylie High School, traveled to the Music for All Festival in Indianapolis with dozens of other concert band members. After attending a show at night, he did not return back to the hotel.

The Wylie ISD released a statement following his diappearance.

"The Wylie ISD has been in contact with Stephen's parents and at this time they have asked for prayers for his safe return. In addition, information about Stephen has been posted on Wylie High School's Facebook page. The event sponsors, Butler University Police and the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) have assured us that they are working hard to ensure Stephen's safe return. If anyone in Wylie has information about Stephen or hears from him, please contact the IMPD at 317-327-3811 or the Wylie Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are for the safe return of Stephen."
