A Michigan man accused of punching his roommate to death was allegedly motivated by a dispute over Taco Bell.
Mark Newsome, 54, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal assault of 72-year-old roommate Dale Mitchell at a Roseville, Michigan, boarding house in January, Macomb County prosecutors announced Monday.
Newsome allegedly punched Mitchell several times in the head after the pair got into an argument over Taco Bell.
"Oh God, it scared the hell out of me, it really did," their roommate Bob McQuade told WJBK-TV.
"There was blood all over upstairs," another roommate, Larry Melton, alleged.
The men said Newsome accused Mitchell of stealing his food.
"To think a fight over food would escalate into murder," said McQuade, roommate. "It's inconceivable."
"It's just senseless," he continued. "I trusted Mark as my friend. I could never believe he would've done something like that."
Mitchell was denied bond and will next appear in court July 2.
