One pilot is dead and another was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a midair collision between two crop duster planes in Idaho on Thursday, officials said.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office said a two-airplane crash was reported at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, west of Arco-Butte County Airport. The sheriff's office said the planes "collided midair and both went down into a sage and grass covered area."
One pilot was killed and the other was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. There was no update on the injured pilot's condition by midday Friday. Authorities did not release the identities of the pilots, pending family notification.
The sheriff's office said the circumstances of the crash are under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified and are investigating.
