Police in Mississippi say a mother "forcibly" drowned her toddler.

Adrienne McDevitt, 35, is accused of killing 2-year-old Kelly McDevitt Jr.

Lauderdale County Sheriff's Deputies found the boy's body while responding to a domestic disturbance. They did not release any more information about the domestic disturbance.

An emotional Sheriff Ward Calhoun said, "This is certainly a tragic event for this family and for our community."

McDevitt was being held for treatment at a hospital and then was going to be transferred to a jail on a $500,000 bond.

Calhoun alleged in the press conference that Kelly was "forcibly drowned" and that when deputies responded, Adrienne was alone with the child in the home.

According to McDevitt's Facebook page, she has been married since July 2015 and her page is filled with smiling photos of her and her family.
