NFL Free Agency 2014: Hakeem Nicks Wants Long-Term Contract; Names Colts, Panthers As Possible Landing Spots

New York Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks appears eager to hit free agency, where he hopes to secure a long-term contract and be the "missing link" for an NFL team. Nicks said he could envision himself playing with the Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers or San Diego Chargers.

"Ideally this is what I want: I want to go to a team where I'm the missing link," Nicks said on Sunday, via ESPN's Josina Anderson. "There are a number of teams that I have my eye on once I hit the market. I know if I went to a place like Indianapolis I would be dangerous with a quarterback like Andrew Luck. I can see myself catching passes from Cam Newton or even Philip Rivers.

"Players have already started to reach out to me from other teams saying they would love for me to come join them. I just want to make it clear that I want a long-term deal and I want to be happy. I'm excited about talking to teams and making it work."

Nicks, 26, has struggled the last two seasons with injuries. His name was mentioned leading up to last season's trade deadline, but the Giants ultimately chose to keep him for the remainder of the season.

In effort to boost his value on the market, Nicks circulated "medical assurances from two of the nation's leading specialists" that his previous injuries aren't a cause for concern, according to ESPN.

He played in 15 games during the 2013 season, where he caught 56 passes for 896 yards.

Free agency begins on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
