California Woman Stung By Bees 1,000 Times After Car Crash

A woman in California was treated for at least 1,000 bee stings after a car crashed into a tree, striking down a bee hive and prompting the attack, NBC News reported.

The incident took place around 3 p.m. on Sunday in the La Canada Flintridge neighborhood, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

One driver, a 51-year-old woman, was stung so badly that she jumped into a nearby pool until firefighters were able to help, dousing her with a fire extinguishers.

The other driver, a 17-year-old girl, was stung around 50 times. Firefighters also doused her with a fire extinguisher.

A deputy was also stung as he helped the women but was not seriously injured. Both victims were treated at nearby hospitals.

The rest of the bees were killed with foam and water and a pest company helped remove the hive.
