A South Korean government administrative robot officer plunged down a flight of stairs in what is being dubbed a "robot suicide."
It happened in Gumi City. The city council says the robot was found unresponsive at the bottom of the six-and-a-half foot staircase.
Witnesses said it "circling in one spot" before the accident, according to the AFP news agency.
"Pieces have been collected and will be analyzed by the company," an official told the news outlet.
The cause of the fall is still under investigation.
The robot, made by California-based Bear Robotics, worked to deliver documents and provide information to residents and could navigate elevators to move between floors. It was used since August 2023, according to reports.
Bear Robotics has not publicly commented on the incident.
"It worked diligently," another city official lamented.
