Black voter support for Trump is up in swing states Pennsylvania and Michigan, but not enough to put a dent in Biden's backing among the voters, according to a new poll.

President Joe Biden may have caught up to Donald Trump in national polls but a look at a group of swing states that are expected to determine the election outcome show Trump is still leading.

Polling average put together by the New York Times show Trump has a slim lead over Biden in the seven key states.

The races remain tight in most of the states and very tight in three of them. Trump leads by two points or less in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. The gap is three points in Arizona and four in Nevada.

Trump's lead is more comfortable in Georgia and North Carolina with five point leads according to averages put together by the New York Time using polls collected by FiveThirtyEight.

Biden and Trump are set to go head-to-head on Thursday for the first of two debates before the November election. Biden hopes a success in the debate will help pull undecided voters into his corner.

Trump agreed to the debate even though the conditions could seem more favorable to Biden. The debate rules include there being no audience and the microphones being muted when it is not the candidate's turn to speak.
