President Joe Biden speaks at a campaign event in Raleigh, North Carolina on June 28, 2024.

A much more animated President Biden spoke at his first campaign event since his much-maligned debate performance on Thursday.

"I intend to win this election," Biden told an animated crowd.

Speaking in Raleigh, N.C., Biden started with a list of campaign themes before addressing the debate.

Biden continued attacks on Trump.

He said Trump set a "new record for most lies in a single debate."

The crowd interrupted Biden multiple times by chanting "Four more years."

He eventually noted his own debate performance.

"I don't speak as well as I used to. I don't debate as well as I used to," Biden said. "But I do know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong and I know how to do this job."

He added, "When you get knocked down you get back up."

Biden's raspy and uneven delivery and meandering responses at Thursday's debate fueled concerns that he can't lead the country for another four years.

First lady Jill Biden introduced Biden wearing a black dress covered with the word vote.

Biden's allies are trying to get past his delivery to keep attention on his reelection campaign.
