17-year-old Maylashia Hogg was days away from giving birth when she was murdered on Valentine's Day in South Carolina.

Months after a pregnant 17-year-old teen was fatally stabbed in South Carolina, and a 62-year-old woman is charged with killing her.

Jaqueline Reid, 62, is charged with two counts of murder and was booked into the Barnwell County Detention Center on Monday. Police say she repeatedly stabbed the teen and her unborn child in early February.

The slain teen was identified as Maylashia Hogg, along with her unborn baby girl named Londyn Charity. She was reported missing on Valentine's Day, just days before she was due to deliver her daughter.

Her body was found days later in a ditch.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was called in by the Barnwell Police Department on February 18 to investigate the death of a pregnant teen found earlier that day.

Maylashia's stepfather, Michael Sapp, described her as an outgoing and outspoken child who wasn't afraid to speak her mind.

"Recently, she has been only excited about having this baby," said Sapp. "That's what's been on her mind-having this baby."

Detectives found forensic evidence at Reid's home linking her to the crime, according to WJBF-TV.

Family members expressed their pain upon seeing Reid in court.

"She's heartless? I mean, if I took someone's life and saw how the family was affected by it, I would have to show some kind of concern. I say I'm sorry; I shouldn't have done it. But she's heartless-very heartless," said Judy Hogg, Maylashia's aunt.

State investigators say they pursued the case for months to arrest a suspect.

"No matter where you live, no matter where you're from, everybody in this state deserves an equal level of law enforcement services," SLED Chief Mark Keel said. "Every case is important, and every victim deserves justice."

Police did not release a motive for the killing and say the investigation is active and ongoing.
