Move over Barbenhiemer; Gladiator II's release date has sparked a new double feature craze - meet "GLICKED."
Come November 22nd, both Gladiator II and Wicked will battle it out in theaters across the nation.
Oscar nominee Paul Mescal, the lead man in the sequl to Russell Crowe's 'Gladiator', recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter.
"It would be amazing if 'Gladiator II' and 'Wicked' replicated Barbenheimer," he said.
The dual "Barbie" and Oppenheimer" premiere caught on quickly among fans, introducing some friendly competition to the big screen last year.
"Wickdiator doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it? I think my preference would probably be Glicked if it has a similar effect to what it did for Barbie and Oppenheimer," the Oscar nominee told Entertainment Tonight.
Because the films are polar opposites and worked in that context previously with the Barbie and Oppenheimer release, "it would be amazing," Mescal reiterated to ET.
The actor, who plays the role of Lucius, is excited about paying homage to the first Gladiator film, which takes place several decades after the first film, originally starring Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and Connie Nielsen.
This time around, the sequel welcomes back Neilson and rounds out the cast with Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Fred Hechinger.
Meanwhile, Wicked centers on Glinda, portrayed by Ariana Grande; Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo; and the Wizard of Oz, played by Jeff Goldblum, as they form an unlikely but profound friendship.
Mezcal revealed he has his fingers crossed for both films, hoping people will come out and see Gladiator II and Wicked on opening weekend.
"GLICKED" hits theaters ahead of Thanksgiving week later this year.
