Israel Defense Forces announced it "eliminated" a prominent Hamas security head during a strike in Gaza this week.
Soldiers killed Hassan Abu Kuik, Head of Operational Security in Hamas' Internal Security Forces, at a central Gaza camp, the IDF confirmed Thursday. In the same mission, soldiers also took out Naser Mehanna, a team commander in Hamas' military intelligence.
Abu Kuik led several attacks against Israel. According to The Times of Israel, he was active in Hamas's military and served in its Emergency Bureau.
The IDF said troops continue "operational activity" in central Gaza, where they recently recovered grenades, drones and explosive devices, among other weapons, at a headquarters.
Using the same tactics in Rafah, soldiers "eliminated dozens of terrorists," according to the IDF.
"The troops also dismantled several terror infrastructure sites rigged with explosives, as well as tunnel shafts in the area. During targeted operations in the area of Tel al-Sultan, the troops located terrorist tunnel shafts, RPGs, and additional weaponry."
