A teen standing in knee deep water is the fourth victim to suffer a shark bite in Florida in just two weeks.
The 14-year-old visiting from Missouri was bitten on his left foot in Daytona Beach, Florida Wednesday, making him the latest victim in a series of shark attacks in Volusia County, in July, authorities said, according to ABC News.
The teen was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Monday, another 14-year-old was bitten on his right calf during lifeguard training when he dove onto a shark at Ponce Inlet, said authorities, The Daytona Beach News-Journal and WOFL-TV reported.
"I dove onto it, and I hit the shark," Dempsey Manhart told the station. "I hit it with my hands, and then I stood up, and it spun around and was like underneath my legs. And I think it bit me when it was wrapped around my feet."
On July 5, a 26-year-old Florida man was bitten on his left foot while wading in 5-foot deep water at New Smyrna Beach, said authorities.
At the same beach a day prior, a 21-year-old man visiting from Ohio was bitten on his foot while playing football in knee-deep water.
"All of a sudden I felt something stab the top and bottom of my foot," Connor Baker told the outlet. "My first instinct was I yanked my foot out, and then just kind of took off."
All four victims' injuries were non-fatal.
According to the Florida Museum International Shark Attack File, Volusia County is considered the "shark bite capital of the world."
