A Michigan mom who admitted to beating her blind toddler to death and then stuffing his body in her basement freezer will spend up to 60 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Lawyers for Azuradee France entered the guilty plea Friday in exchange for the dismissal of charges of first-degree child abuse, torture and concealing a death, according to the Detroit Free-Press.
France, 33, of Detroit, will serve a minimum of 35 years behind bars as a result of confessing to fatally kicking 3-year-old Chayse Allen in the chest in March 2022 after she got upset that he wouldn't eat, the outlet reported, citing police.
When Chayse didn't wake up the next morning, she concealed his corpse in a bag and stuffed it in a freezer in her basement, where his body remained for three months, until officers responding to a welfare check at her home made the grim discovery.
France said she hid the body and didn't call 911 because she didn't want her five other children to be taken away from her, police said, the outlet reported.
France admitted she regularly abused Chayse with a belt.
According to Child Protective Services records, France had been under investigation on at least five separate occasions since 2020, the outlet reported.
Her kids previously spent time in foster care in 2018 after she pleaded guilty to the abuse of her 2-year-old nephew.
