2-Year-Old Toddler Saves Mother with ‘FaceTime’ App

Constant use of smartphones by children is often taken as a sign of bad parenting. But a 2-year-old Arizona toddler proved the notion wrong by using the 'FaceTime' application on his mother's cellular phone to help save her.

Laura Toone, mother of the toddler Bentley, was looking after her pet dog and a foster dog. Suddenly the foster dog attacked her pet prompting Laura to intervene. The foster dog then tore her whole middle finger leaving her bleeding.

As she wailed in pain, Laura told her 4-year-old daughters to call 911 but they were too afraid to make the call as her phone was soaked in blood. Then her son Bentley came to the rescue. He carefully wiped her phone with a dish towel, started the 'FaceTime,' a video chat app, and called his mother's friend Connie Guerrero.

"All I could see was his little forehead, and I said 'Hi Bentley,' and it was quiet for a little bit. And then I hear Laura screaming," Guerrero told KGUN. She then immediately called 911 and Bentley opened the door for the rescue team to enter the house.

Little Bentley has called Guerrero several times using the video chat app while playing with his mother's phone earlier. Guerrero said she often ignored them. But this time, she says, something told her to answer the call.

Toone told KGUN that she was glad that her son helped her and was her hero. She said since the injury, she has taught her children to dial 911 in case of any emergencies.
