Katie Holmes Admits Ending Holmes & Yang Fashion Line Due To Acting And Motherhood Obligations

Katie Holmes told Elle magazine that her decision to end her fashion line Holmes & Yang came from her need to concentrate on motherhood and her acting career.

Katie Holmes has been making headline ever since her divorce from Tom Cruise in 2012. Sometime it was about their daughter Suri's custody and sometimes it was about what Holmes plans to do with her life in the future. Recently, the actress made headlines for ending her five year partnership with stylist Jeanne Yang. The two owned a fashion label called Holmes & Yang.

Initial rumors had it that the reason for the split was "interpersonal conflict." However, in a new interview with Elle UK, Holmes rubbished these rumors, saying the split came because she wanted to concentrate on motherhood and her acting career.

"I loved every minute of my time working on Holmes & Yang. I remain passionate about the design aesthetic we created, and am so happy with what Jeanne and I accomplished," Holmes told the magazine. "However I am now concentrating on acting and motherhood, which did not leave the label the time and attention it deserved."

"I'm really thrilled that the final showcase for Holmes & Yang is in ELLE - I had a blast at my shoot for the magazine," she continued. "It is fantastic to feel like it's ending on a high."

So what is the single mom plan to do now as she doesn't have a fashion label to run anymore? The actress recently wrapped shooting the film adaptation of "The Giver in South Africa". On March 11, it was confirmed that the Dawson's Creek alum would also be returning to television in an ABC pilot. The series is currently untitled, but has been described as a "high society drama."

Holmes will star opposite Rufus Sewell in this drama about opposing couples living in New York City. She will play Ann, a well-bred and educated woman who runs a philanthropic foundation with her husband, according to Entertainment Weekly.
