The Oklahoma State Cowboys play the Kansas Jayhawks on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Big 12 Championship tournament. Tipoff is at 3:00 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast or watch the live stream via the links provided below.
No. 10 Kansas lost two of their last five games, including their regular-season finale against West Virginia. Freshman center Joel Embiid, who averaged 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, will miss the Big 12 tournament and likely won't be available until the NCAA tournament regionals due to a stress fracture in his lower back, according to USA Today Sports.
While the loss of the 7-footer hurts Kansas, Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford believes the Jayhawks are still a threat.
"You're always going to miss a player like Embiid. He's special. But they've got guys they can turn to and that can pick it up for them," Ford said, via ESPN. "We understand the challenge is going to be an incredible challenge. We have a lot of respect for Kansas, and we understand how good they are."
Kansas (23-8) will rely even more on Big 12 freshman of the year Andrew Wiggins, who leads the team in scoring with 16.8 points per game. Senior forward Tarik Black remains Embiid's replacement at the 5-spot.
Oklahoma State, meanwhile, bounced back from a string of losses in February and won five of their last six games, including their Big 12 tournament win on Wednesday against Texas Tech.
The return of guard Marcus Smart from his three-game suspension was a big lift for the Cowboys down the stretch, and the team will look for another solid performance from sophomore.
