NFL running back Darren Sproles' wife was upset with the New Orleans Saints because of how they treated her husband. According to the Huffington Post, Michel Sproles vented her frustration and disappointment on Instagram after news broke that the Saints were going to trade Darren instead of releasing him.
The post has since been deleted but reads:
"I am so disappointed in the Saints organization & the way they are treating my husband. I understand this is a brutal business but when u have a good guy who works hard & does a lot for the community u would think they would show a little more respect. To verbalize to him that they will release him so at least he can choose the team he wants to spend his last few years in the NFL with on & then take it back without a word & try to trade him is f**ked up... I no I have no control over this & God is gonna work it out but in the mean time I'm gon vet & talk s**t. Lol! WhoDat Nation get ready for a ride because the seeds yall front office is planting its not gon be a good look for yall... See the way my God is set up he gets the last say & can get u back better than the Compton Curse out I wanna give these muthaf**kas!"
She finished the rant with the hashtags: "#YesICurseAndPraiseGod #OnlyGodCanJudgeMe #IputHisChargerPicsUpBecauseTheSaintsAintShitForWhatTheyDoin."
According to NFL.com, the Saints had originally told the running back that they were going to release him. Apparently, both Darren and his wife liked the idea and posted messages on their social media accounts thanking the team and fans.
The Saints then changed their minds at the last minute "due to increased interest in the running back from other teams," Huffington Post reports.
Reportedly the 30-year-old athlete didn't learn of the news until he saw someone mention it on Twitter. Darren told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he wanted to be released so he could pick which team he wanted to play for.
"I don't know where they would send me because I have no control over it and I want to be able to pick," Darren said. "The good thing is none of the teams I'm told they're talking to are terrible."
The Saints ended up trading Darren to the Philadelphia Eagles for a fifth round draft pick.
