Rachele Cateyes has succeeded in getting a diet company to remove her bikini picture after she discovered it was being used to promote weight loss. According to Inquisitr, the self-proclaimed "Fat Babe," who advocates for women to love their bodies no matter what sixe they are, took a picture of herself in a two-piece bikini last year and uploaded it to her blog.
The purpose of the photo was to show her fans and followers that she was completely comfortable showing off her curves, and they should be too.
"Anchors away! I finally have myself a proper high-waisted fatkini. I took my body and put it on a beach and voila! Beach body! Wearing a bikini as a fat woman is an act of rebellion," she wrote about the picture. "I felt glorious and glamorous all at the same time. I wore my stretch marks as ribbons of honor and let the sun kiss my lumpy thighs and arms without a care in the world."
The photo has inspired other women to post their own bikini pictures flaunting whatever shape they have. Recently, Cateyes came across her photo on an ad for a diet company called Venus Factor. The company was promoting a weight loss program and used Cateyes' image - without asking her - as a "before" snapshot.
The photo included captions like "why women should never diet like a man" and "how to cut down your body fat," the Inquisitr reports. Clearly, the company using her photo upset her.
According to Cosmopolitan magazine, she sent Venus Factor a Facebook message asking them to remove the photo but her request was ignored. That's when she took her story to KGW news and posted a YouTube video asking her fans to help her get the ad taken down.
"[They're] using me to represent basically, 'This is what you don't want to look like, don't be like her, her body's bad,'" she said, Cosmopolitan reports.
Eventually Venus Factor did remove Cateyes' image and offered her an apology.
