No. 1 Florida hasn't lost since December en route to winning 23 straight games, including their regular-season finale against Kentucky. The Gators (29-2) are all but guaranteed to be the top seed of the NCAA tournament, and winning the SEC championship would certainly cement that.
"If we're playing in Orlando, that's great," Gators coach Billy Donovan said, via ESPN. "But our goal right now would be to try to put three games together and play in a championship game on Sunday."
Donovan admitted he hoped the NCAA would adjust their scheduling in the future to give teams playing in the conference championship more time between the championship game and the NCAA tournament opener, although he stopped short of complaining.
"None of that stuff is obviously ideal. We'll have to go out there and play (Thursday) regardless," Donovan said. "That was just something I would say we need to look at. But I think our guys will be excited about playing. Regardless where it is, we'll have time to get prepared and ready to play."
Missouri, meanwhile, lost three of their last five games, including their regular-season finale in a blowout at Tennessee. The Tigers (22-10) advanced to the SEC quarterfinals after handing Texas A&M a 91-83 loss on Wednesday.
