NY Jets Rumors: Michael Vick, NYJ Interested; Darrelle Revis Wanted To Sign With Jets, Team Uninterested

The New York Jets and free agent quarterback Michael Vick reportedly share a mutual interest in each other. New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis, meanwhile, reportedly preferred re-signing with Gang Green, but the Jets were uninterested in having him back.

Vick, 33, may soon be playing in New Jersey.

"The Jets are looking for someone to play behind Geno Smith and possibly take over if he stumbles," Brian Costello of the New York Post wrote on Wednesday. "They are also interested in free agents Michael Vick and Shaun Hill.

"Vick is believed to be the Jets' top choice, and there is mutual interest, according to sources. But Vick is going to take his time and see how the quarterback landscape develops, according to a source."

NJ.com also reported a source close to the situation as saying Vick wants to sign with the Jets.

Vick, who wants a starting job after being supplanted by backup Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, has a chance to start with the Jets if incumbent starter Geno Smith remains inconsistent this season.

The four-time Pro Bowler played his last five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and became a free agent in March.

Revis, to the chagrin of many Jets fans, signed with the Patriots after his release from Tampa Bay. Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reports that Revis wanted to sign with the Jets, but the team's front office -- with the exception of coach Rex Ryan -- wanted nothing to do with him.
