According to a report by Radar Online, MTV is cancelling "Teen Mom 2." The show, which follows the lives of young parents Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, Leah Messer and Kailyn Lowry, has been one of the network's most popular shows.
Sources have reportedly told Radar that the show was coming to an "abrupt end" and producers were ending it after Season 5, which is currently airing.
"There is no season 6 of 'Teen Mom 2,'" a production source told the site. "Season 5 is the girls' last season."
The source claims that producers want to pull the show "while the ratings are still high" and additional episodes will be added to the current season.
"Though it is not season six, per se, it's pretty much another season. The girls already filmed a reunion for 'Season 5' but this season is technically 'Season 5b.'"
However, a source close to Jenelle Evans told Hollywood Life that Radar's story is completely not ture.
"The Radar report that they've been told it's being cancelled is not true," the source told the site. "I talked to Jenelle - the people who told Radar were not reliable sources so as soon as I read it I talked to her. It is 100 percent not true."
Hollywood Life also claims that Evans and Lowry have both teased fans about Season 6. On Mar. 13, Lowry posted an Instagram picture of her newborn son, Lincoln and a camera crew could be seen in the background.
Evans also tweeted a picture on Mar. 7 of camera equipment with the caption: "Time to open my book of secrets to the world once again, lol,"
The girls were first introduced on the show "16 & Pregnant," which followed them as they struggled to adjust to becoming young moms. They all went on to star in the "Teen Mom 2" spinoff.
