"Star War Episode 7" might have an Oscar-winning leading lady competing for a lead role as well as a possibly leaked logo for the new film.
Lupita Nyong'o has allegedly caught the attention of director J.J. Abrams, according to the Latino-Review. Nyong'o is reportedly up for a role unrelated to the family of the cast members from the original trilogy, possibly a role of a sith.
"We can report that there's a recent Oscar winner who has been reading for a part for over the past month and she's extremely close to signing onto the movie: 12 Years A Slave's Lupita Nyong'o," Latino-Review reports.
However, the "Star Wars" camp has not confirmed any casting news. Nyong'o joins five other males who are also rumored to be up for a lead role in the upcoming film.
"...'Downton Abbey' thesp Ed Speleers, 'Attack the Block' star John Boyega, Jesse Plemons and theater actors Matthew James Thomas, and Ray Fisher are among the men J.J. Abrams is eyeing for the lead role," Variety reports. "Though some insiders warn the search is still ongoing, multiple sources confirm to Variety these actors have moved to the top of the list in recent weeks."
Plemons is the only actor of the five Abrams has admitted meeting related to the "Star Wars" production. Abrams confirmed the meeting during the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour last January.
"He was one of the people we spoke with," Abrams told the crowd. "It's not often that I'm reading about actors I'm meeting. I read articles about meeting with actors and then when I see them it's like, 'Oh, I read I'm going to be meeting with you!' It's usually agents talking with people about things."
Other possibly exciting news has popped out amongst all the casting rumors. ComicBookMovie.com reports they've got their hands on a leaked image of the new logo for "Star Wars Episode 7." You can check it out the image for yourself here.
