Fashion designer L'Wren Scott was found dead in an apparent suicide in her New York City apartment on Monday, the New York Daily News reported.
According to police, her body was discovered by her assistant around 10 a.m.
Though authorities do not suspect foul play was involved, they are waiting on the medical examiner's office to determine an official cause of death.
Claire Phillips, an editor for The Guardian, said a spokesman for Jagger claimed Scott's boyfriend was "completely shocked and devastated" at the news of her death.
Scott, 49, entered the fashion industry as a model before becoming a succesful designer. She also became a celebrity stylist and was dating Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger since 2001.
In February, it was announced that Scott's line, in addition to Victoria Beckham's, would not be included in this season's Fashion Week in New York and London. According to The Times, Scott cited production delays as the reason behind the decision.
