A 105-year-old Texas woman may have uncovered the most unlikely secret to a long life - eat bacon and a lot of it!
"I love bacon, I eat it everyday," Pearl Cantrell told NBC affiliate KRBC when asked the secret to living so long. "I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say," Cantrell added.
Cantrell, who lives in central Texas and still dances, also told KRBC that her 105th birthday party was a three-day affair with more than 200 guests.
The Raw Story reports that Pearl Cantrell's love of bacon not only makes her happy, but is the reason for her 105 year long (and still counting) life.
Meat and cold cut company Oscar Mayer took an interest in the centenarian's love of bacon.
"We've seen a lot of stories on the road, but nothing quite like this one, so we're excited to be here. We know she's an inspiration. Pearl is an inspiration for the community, and her friends and family. So we had to make a special stop here for her today", said Abraham Luna, "hotdogger" for Oscar Mayer.
"I will never, ever forget this, for the rest of my life," Cantrell said after she got to ride "shot-bun" around her hometown. Then employees gave a gift of bacon, and Oscar Mayer says they plan to ship Cantrell more bacon in the future.
