Rocker Courtney Love thinks she's knows where the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 might be. The plane has been missing since Mar. 8 after it took off from Kuala Lumpur headed for Beijing with 239 people aboard.
The plane never made it to its destination and virtually vanished from the skies. The missing plane has prompted an international search to locate the passengers and the aircraft. Love is one of millions of people who have flocked to the crowd-sourcing site Tomnod.com to post their theories about where the plane could be.
Love took to Twitter and Facebook to share her thoughts about where she strongly believes the plane is, New York Mag reports.
"I'm no expert but up close this does look like a plane and an oil slick," she wrote on Facebook, including a link to Tomnod. "Prayers go out to the families #MH370 and its like a mile away Pulau Perak, where they 'last' tracked it... but what do I know?"
When asked how she found the spot, she told Daily Intelligencer, "I went to the satellite site and just uploaded tons and tons of pictures. I really doubt aliens took it. It's got to be somewhere. I'm a little obsessive."
According to NY Mag, the spot Love picked has already been ruled out by Tomnod.
"Although it is still an interesting clue, it is looking much more like the other boats operating in the region," Tomnod said prior to Love's post. "Keep up the good work."
"I saw an article asked people to help search on Tomnod.com so I decided to give it a shot," she explained. "I figured a plane would still be leaking some fuel so I searched for signs of an oil sick. I found one and there appeared to be an object nearby. I don't know if it is the plane or not, but I figured I'd do my part and bring some awareness to the site, for the sake of all the families involved."
"I hope they find the plane, I pray they're still alive, it's sad and my heart goes out to all those involved," Love added. "It's the least I can do."
