Recent reports suggest that Google Map will soon get a whole new interface after Google Operating System posted a few screenshots of the new Google Map interface.
People who refer to Google Maps frequently for directions are used to seeing the sidebar, which has been part of the Google Map interface for what seems like forever. However, if rumors are to be believed, this and many more features of Google Map are about to change. Google Operating System, the unofficial Google blog, posted a couple of screenshots claiming that they may be the new Google Map interface, which will be launching soon.
"Google is about to launch a new interface for Google Maps," the blog post reads. "The update will remove the sidebar and will display everything on top of the full-screen map. One of the new features lets you restrict local search results to places recommended by top reviews or your Google+ circles."
The blog post also suggests that the new interface is far more "immersive" and will work better on mobile devices. This time round, Google has focused more on its map than buttons, navigational elements and sidebars. The map's icon, color and text styles have also been updated.
No dates about when the new UI will be launched has been revealed but since Google's I/O event is to be held next week, word has it that the company may just roll out the new Google Map User Interface then.
