New York City Subway Car Slammed by Nissan SUV; Driver Flees Scene After Car Rams Through Fence, Mounts Train (SEE IT)

A Nissan SUV slammed into a Coney Island-bound Q Train in New York City at about 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police were searching for the driver, who reportedly fled the scene of the accident, after the out-of-control vehicle slammed through a fence and landed right on top of Q train car, according to Brooklyn officials who spoke with the New York Daily News.

No one was hurt and the train car "sustained minimal damages," DNAinfo reported on Wednesday morning.

A Metropolitan Transit Authority official told the Daily News that the Nissan SUV lurched onto the sidewalk, crashed into a barrier located at Albemarle Rd. and East 16th Street, then harpooned the fence and ramped onto the southbound train.

The Daily News reported that the car's front passenger-side wheel was stuck in between two of the cars, which were passing by at street-level.

A 25-year-old eyewitness who referred to herself as Shoshannah took a snap of the bizarre happenstance, and recounted her surprise to Daily News reporters.

"It's amazing," she said. "I've lived in this neighborhood for 22 years and I haven't seen anything like it. There's absolutely no way you couldn't see you were going straight into a wall."

Q trains headed toward Brooklyn switched to express stops between Prospect Park and Kings Highway stations while cops inspected the curious scene.

According to an MTA spokesperson who spoke to the Daily News said the SUV had been removed from the top of the train by about 7:15 a.m.

Emergency response crews immediately went to work on fixing the barrier. The damaged train was still stuck above the train cars about three hours later.

Nearly 50 passengers inside the train car were transferred back to the Church Ave. station after the bizarre incident. None of the people riding the subway sustained injuries, the Daily News reported.
