Third-seeded Syracuse had a rocky finish down the stretch of the regular season, including a 66-63 loss to NC State in the ACC Tournament. Eyes will be on the Orange, who started the season with 25 straight wins, to see whether they can snap out of their funk and make a strong March Madness push.

For Orange senior guard C.J. Fair, a loss would mark the end of his collegiate career.

"It could be my last game, but as a team we want to prolong the season, not get it get cut short," Fair, who leads the Orange with 16.7 points per game, told the Associated Press. "Hopefully, we win tomorrow, get the first game under our belt, and we can get it going."

Western Michigan, seeded No. 14, comes into the contest with four straight wins under their belt. Although the Broncos are the underdogs, the team is confident they can pick apart Syracuse's 2-3 zone, according to the Associated Press.

"We pride ourselves in our inside-out game, getting the ball in the paint," senior center Shayne Whittington said. "So, developing that and getting their mind on that early, maybe it will help them sink a little bit so we can have a few 3-pointers."

Senior guard David Brown has been electric for Western Michigan, leading the team with 19.4 points per game.
