Nebraska turned around their poor start to the season and won 10 of their last 13 games. The late-season push was enough to earn them a spot in the NCAA Tournament as the No. 11 seed, something few saw coming when the Cornhuskers were struggling earlier this year in the Big Ten.

"When we were 1-5 in the league, I wouldn't have bet you any amount of money we were going to make it," Nebraska coach Tim Miles admitted to the Associated Press.

"It's really big. I don't think a lot of people thought we were going to be in this position this fast," sophomore swingman Shavon Shields said. "So for us, I just kind of think we're learning as we go on."

Sophomore swingman Terran Petteway has carried the scoring load for Nebraska, averaging a team-high 18.1 points per game.

Sixth-seeded Baylor also made a late surge to earn a spot in the tournament, winning 10 of their last 13 games as well. The Bears made it to the Big 12 championship game before falling to Iowa State, 74-65.

Baylor is powered behind senior forward Cory Jefferson, who leads the team in both scoring (13.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.4 rpg).
